Issued on 6th July 1966, designed by Les Mason this stamp celebrates the 75th anniversary of Royal Life Saving Society. A foundational organisation in Australian life, RLS Australia trains over 1 million Australians every year and over 5 million have achieved their bronze medallion since its inception. The combination of ultramarine, blue and black depicts the rescue tow in bold silhouette - two figures seen side-on, the wave lines beneath them creating rhythm without breaking the stamp's flat graphic discipline. Released in 1966, it was one of Australia's first decimal currency stamps.
